Mohamedou Diop

Mohamedou Diop was born and raised in Mauritania, in Northwest Africa. After visiting the United States for leisure and professional development, he became a U.S. citizen in 2015 and has called Vermont his home ever since. Mohamed has more than ten years of experience in education in Mauritania, where he taught French and English and served as a principal in public high schools. He also provided French language instruction, translation, and interpretation for various organizations, including the U.S. Embassy, the Washington Post and the United Nations. Having taken on multiple roles to support students in Vermont, he is currently the Director of Multilingual Learner Programs at the Winooski School District. He also serves on several boards, including the Champlain Valley Educator Development Center, the Vermont Council on World Affairs, and the Vermont State Board of Education. A respectful educator who values collaboration and is open to different perspectives, Mohamed continuously seeks professional development opportunities to enhance his skills and expertise.
